How to handle the entrepreneur lifestyle
Owning a business can be a TON of fun, but there are certainly some challenges you can face along the way. Dealing with burnout, keeping a consistent schedule and staying confident in your business are just a few things you may have to deal with. In this post, I am sharing a few tips that have helped me and I hope they help you too!
Batch Your Work
The best way to keep up with your workload is to batch similar tasks on the same day. Instead of hopping around, keep your schedule structured with blocks of time devoted to a certain topic. For example, on Tuesdays I work on content creation. I outline and draft blog content, create social media posts and review email newsletter work. It is way easier for me to crank out content stuff all at once as opposed to going back and forth between unrelated tasks. Give it a shot!
Keep Self-Care on the Schedule
How would you feel a friend continually cancelled plans with you over and over again? Not great, right? Think of your body and self-care the same way. If you keep putting off making time for yourself or cancelling time to relax, you are going to burn out SO quickly. Sticking to scheduled time may be the way to go for you. Put it on the calendar and DO NOT cancel. Whatever your version of self-care, do it and make it a reoccurring thing.
Talk to Someone
If you are a solopreneur like me, you can get a little wrapped up in it all and start to feel alone. The stress can pile up and your attitude can totally shift. Talking to a loved one or friend can really get you out of your funk. Another option is a trusted counselor. Sometimes having an outside opinion or third party can help you work through everything!
One of the main tips that I have for handling entrepreneurship and getting through it all is STAYING ORGANIZED. There is nothing worse than scrambling trying to find one scrap of paper before a big meeting or looking up and down your place for that receipt come tax time. Develop a system for paperwork, electronic files and your emails. Another way to stay organized is through a task management software. My VA and I use Asana to keep track of due dates, files and upcoming tasks.
These are just a few of my tried and true methods that have really helped me navigate entrepreneurship! As things have grown and evolved in my business, having these basic principles implemented in my lifestyle has really made a huge different along the way!
